RECENT PROJECTS
Our Recent Projects
Newcrest Telfer Gold Mine
PROJECT MANAGEMENT, DETAIL DESIGN & DRAFTING
Provided project management support for critical maintenance and reliability & improvement projects at Telfer including hydroset monorail repairs & bolt replacement, Stacker shuttle drive, chute anchor points, SAG & BALL Mill hydraulics upgrade, crusher debris removal platform, Cooling tower Fan Motor access platform.
Engineered and provided detail design and drafting of Custom made platform compliant to AS1657.2013 for maintenance of underground crusher and Cooling Tower at Telfer. The debris removal platform was a challenging design as it involved a mobile platform requiring to sit in between the mantle and concave for removal of steel mesh, rock bolts and other debris from the crusher. However, through clever design and modelling, a practical platform was successfully designed by our engineers. 3D modelling and drafting was done in-house.
Klen International
DETAIL DESIGN- MULTI-CHEMICAL BATCHING SYSTEM
This project included full project management, stakeholder liaisons, provision of options, costing, design, hazop with the owners team, fabrication and installation of a process chemical batching system with operator interface control panel for correct batching of multiple Class 3 combustible chemicals. A challenging project involving multiple fluids, requiring minimising contamination and coring and fire rating restoration of a 240/240/240 fire rated wall. The fire wall restoration was carried out to requirements of applicable BS 476: Part 20: 1987, BS EN 1366: Part 3: 2009 and/or AS 1530: Part 4: 2005 standards. Earthing was designed to AS/NZS 1020 and piping markings to AS1345. System to AS3780. The entire project was executed in-house with impressive results and a very happy client.

FMG Port Anderson Point
CONVEYOR RELIABILITY ENGINEERING
This short assignment involved provision of reliability engineering services at the port in supporting operations and provisions of short term and long term solutions to everday problems with conveyors, stockyard machines and shiploaders. Work includes:
-
Setting up gravity counterweight and limit switch positions on all conveyors to prevent counterweight bogging and trips associated with conveyor dynamics.
-
Assessing causes of belt mis-tracking on port conveyors and providing solutions to prevent belt damage.
-
Assessing causes of belt cover erosion and belt damage on ship loaders, stackers and reclaimers and providing solution.
-
Provision of root cause analysis of hydraulic line failure on ship loader and counterweight rope failure on transfer conveyor.
FMG Northstar Ironbridge
MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING
This was another short assignment at the Northstar IronBridge Magnetite Concentrator Plant to assist with maintenance engineering. Work involved:
-
Scoping, planning and executing maintenance and critical upgrade shutdowns for crushing and screening equipment and wet plant including coordinating permits, issued Working at Heights and Confined Space entry certificates, verifying all isolations, managing contractors and supervising works.
-
Building scope of works for crusher maintenance.
-
Setting up maintenance regimes for all equipment and establishing critical spares list and ensuring critical spares availability.
-
Prioritizing maintenance and upgrades in line with budget to ensure production goals were met.
-
Diagnosing faults on equipment incl HPGR, grizzly feeders, jaw and cone crushers, screens, chutes, magnetic separators, pumps and providing short term and long term solutions.
-
Assessing, scoping and designing improvements to meet with Department of Mines and Petroleum Notices.
-
BHP Olympic Dams
FIRE SYSTEM RELIABILITY STUDY
This project involved study and assessment of existing fire suppression and alarm system for the uranium and copper solvent extraction plants.
Following a number of fires in the solvent extraction facility, the existing fire suppression system and existing maintenance system and spare parts holding required an assessment for suitability.
The work completed by Peer engineering services included:
-
Provision of Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis tor all components of the fire suppression and alarm system including diesel and electric pumps, deluge valve stations, sprinklers, manual and check valves, piping, fire monitors, alarms, pressure transmitters and other instrumentation to quantify failure modes, detectability, likelihood and consequences of failure. Workshops were conducted with key plant operation and maintenance personnel to arrive at the final ratings.
-
Assessment of existing maintenance system and correlating with existing failure data and trends for fire suppression system components.
-
Calculation of minimum spares holding for maintainable items based on industry accepted failure rate data and 95% confidence level that the spare part would be available.
-
Provision of a report of the assessment and the recommendations.
KLEN International
MANUFACTURING PLANT RELOCATION ENGINEERING
The project involved provision of engineering , drafting, and construction services to support the relocation of Klen factory to their new premises and integration of existing equipment with new equipment. Peer Engineering Services designed the new plant layout and produced all layout drawings to enable installation and integration of new equipment with existing equipment. Layouts were done for existing equipment, new equipment, dust extraction system and compressed air systems. This work was challenging as the layout required fitting of additional and larger than anticipated processing equipment.
Work also included:
-
Modification of existing equipment platforms to meet with the requirements of AS1657 and to support the new equipment and new layout . Modifications included lifting of existing platform, extension of the platform, relocation of two main columns to provide better access for operations and maintenance, new handrails, and kickplates, new stairs, modification of existing stairs and floor plates. Peer engineering provided mechanical engineering and structural engineering for the modifications.
-
Design, procurement, fabrication and installation of safety perimeter fencing with interlocking gates around rotating machinery in accordance with AS4024.
Peer Engineering Services also developed P&IDs for a new water treatment plant for the new facility, provided mechanical engineering for improved safety, maintenance and reliability, coordinated with relevant contractors to deliver project requirements, and provided site construction support.
All engineering drawings were completedin AutoCAD to enable construction and installation. All work was done to relevant Australian standards.
